Raymond H. Bateman

Mr. Bateman was appointed to the NJSEA Board on February 16, 1994, and served as the Chairman of the Board at the NJSEA from 7/5/96 to 7/9/01. In private life, he established Public Affairs Consultants, a governmental advisory service for corporate and foundation management. He served in the New Jersey Legislature for 19 years, including three terms as President of the Senate and Acting Governor of New Jersey. Mr. Bateman sponsored the 1971 Legislation establishing the NJSEA. He has served as chairman and member of a variety of different corporations and is very active in non-profit community projects. Since 1977 he has taught a course in State Politics and Public Policy at Rutgers University. Bateman is a 1950 graduate of Wesleyan University and attended the graduate program of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.
