Dennis Dowd is a third generation New Jersey horseman. He has owned, bred and trained both thoroughbred and standard bred horses. He has an amateur harness driver's license and has competed around the country and internationally. He is the former Attorney for the Thoroughbred Horseman's Association. Governor Tom Kean named him to the New Jersey Racing Commission, and was appointed Chairman during the Florio administration.

A former President and CEO of Freehold Raceway in New Jersey, Rosecroft in Maryland, Bally's Ocean Down's in Maryland and of Vernon Downs in New York.
