
THE NJSEA INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority manages a summer internship program each year. This program is a formal, non-paid internship that generally runs from mid June through mid August. Ideally, students will be getting college credit, but it is not a requirement.
Students should be a Junior or Senior in an undergraduate program or a graduate student. Students should have a strong interest in learning about the sports and entertainment industry.
Interns must be available to work approximately 25-30 hours per week. Nights and weekends may be required due to the nature of the industry and the schedule of events. Students will be required to participate in a variety of events managed by the Sports Authority such as Meadowlands Pace Night, The Hambletonian, The Hambletonian Golf Outing, assist management with concerts, international soccer events and any other events occurring during their internship.
Students will be required to attend an orientation program and complete a substantive project developed by their department manager. Some of the internship experiences might include:
Tour of entire Complex.
Marketing Overview.
The Business of College Athletics.
Event Safety & Admissions, “Crowd Management”.
Guest Services and what it means to the business.
Multi Media Department – How does the “big board” work?
How to write a great cover letter and resume.
Financial Overview.
Franchise Relationships. Weekly luncheons provide an opportunity to listen and learn from some of sports most knowledgeable people. Speakers have joined us from:

NBA Entertainment We also offer a variety of other talented and successful professionals from our organization and the industry who will take time to mentor interns.

Deadline for applying is
March 31st
Please include a cover letter along with a resume. Submit both no later than March 31st to be considered for our interview process in April. If you have already mailed in your cover letter and resume, there is no need to mail another. Once interviewed, individual will be notified by mid May if they have been accepted into the program. The Internship Orientation is scheduled for the second week of June, which is when the program begins. A maximum of 14 students are accepted into the program each summer.
