The type of wagering practiced at Monmouth Park and Meadowlands Racetrack, known as “pari-mutuel,” comes from the French and means “amongst ourselves.” At the racetrack, the public bets against each other, not the racetrack.

Every Sunday, noon to 4 p.m., is Family Fun Day at Monmouth Park. Starting on the Green and spreading all the way to the picnic area, you’ll find clowns, face painters, live music, pony rides, bounce houses, and more. In addition there is a playground in the Picnic Area and an arcade on the first floor of the Grandstand.

What are the different types of wagering?
Monmouth Park offers basic win, place and show betting as well as exacta, trifecta, superfecta, daily double, pick three and pick four wagering. (Be sure to check out our website, www.monmouthpark.com, for more information on how to wager, as well as handicapping advice for players of all levels).

Where is the gift shop located?
The gift shop is located on the first floor of the Grandstand, at the south end next to the Barber Shop.

Where are scratches posted?
Scratches are posted on the first floor of the Grandstand and the Clubhouse for both live Monmouth and simulcast racing.

Can I purchase photos and videotapes of races?
Videotapes may be purchased through the Media Relations Department and photos from Bill Denver of Equi-Photo. Both are located on the first floor of the Administration Building, adjacent to the paddock.

Why does Monmouth Park want me to win?
Monmouth Park acts as a broker for all wagers made. This type of wagering is called the pari-mutuel system. Each bet is placed in a separate pool and Monmouth Park takes a state-mandated percentage of each wager. The remaining money in the pool is divided amongst the winning ticket holders. It makes no difference to us which horse wins or how much any wager pays out.
