GIANTS STADIUM (#1) IZOD CENTER (#6) TOPS IN DECADE ON BILLBOARD CHARTS FOR HIGHEST CONCERT AND FAMILY SHOW GROSS SALES WORLDWIDE
New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority owned and operated facilities and events dominated the past decade rankings for concert and entertainment venues worldwide according to the latest figures released by BILLBOARD Magazine.
IZOD Center ranked fourth nationally and sixth worldwide attracting over 7 million patrons who spent over $300 million on concerts and family shows.
Giants Stadium annually dominates the world rankings and thus its first place finish for the decade worldwide was most noteworthy as its $291 million gross was nearly three times as much as the second place venue. It also attracted twice the attendance with 5 million patrons as the next highest venue
“The independent BILLBOARD rankings showcase the exceptional marketplace the Meadowlands Sports Complex has created and are a testament to an outstanding professional staff”, stated NJSEA President and CEO Dennis Robinson.
“The beneficiaries of this incredible performance are not only the millions of customers but the millions of New Jersey taxpayers who benefit from the enormous economic impact of the NJSEA’s entertainment business,” added NJSEA Chairman Carl Goldberg.
Finally, two series of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concerts, in 2005 and 2009 respectively, finished first and sixth in gross sales worldwide for the decade. Of course the band and the Meadowlands are synonymous as the 2009 shows were the closing musical act in the legendary entertainment history of Giants Stadium.
